Composite materials

Composite materials have been everywhere on our boats since the 70s, mainly for reasons of cost, industrialization, and durability. Composite construction is based on the assembly of fiberglass and polyester resin. There are of course several types of fiberglass as well as several resins depending on the desired objective. The gelcoat final layer used to protect the composite from external aggressions (UV, water …).

The dedicated Composite team at the Port-Fréjus Shipyard is able to carry out repairs due to shocks or the implementation of new equipment as well as manufacture complete parts. The realization of a custom-made delphinière for a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 is an example.

Composite Repair

The composite repair process is divided into several stages:

  • Cleaning
  • Sanding to regain a healthy layer,
  • Stratification
  • Gel coat

Design & Creation

Composite materials also allow you to create specific parts to customize your boat:

  • Delphinière,
  • Arch
